To try a centering prayer method:
- Sit quietly and comfortably
- Rest within your desire for God
- Move to the centre within your deepest self where you feel comfortable: your heart, your gut, your third eye (at the centre of the forehead).
- Become aware of stillness, breathe slowly, relaxing more each time
- Choose a word or phrase that helps you relax.
- When your mind begins to wander, gently go back to a word or phrase such as peace, hope, love, silence.
- Ps 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God
- Rm 8:15 - The Spirit of Jesus cries out within us "Abba"
- Rm 8:26 - The Spirit expresses our plea in a way that could never be put into words
